PHILOSOPHY AND FUNCTIONS OF YOUTH MINISTRY AT FELLOWSHIP BAPTIST

v      The goals of the youth ministry at Fellowship Baptist are:

o        Develop a passion for God  - “Indeed, while following the way of Your judgments, O Lord, We have waited for You eagerly; Your name, even Your memory, is the desire of our souls.”  Isaiah 26:8.  Our goal is that youth have a hunger for God’s word, dedicated to prayer, have a passion for worship, who believe the Bible as absolute truth and Jesus Christ is the only way to God.

o        Grow positive Relationships - Our goal is for youth to respect those over them (adults), love those around them (peers) and a witness to those who don’t know Christ.

o        Become dynamic Leaders - we want our youth to be leaders at home, in their schools, where they work - wherever they are. We also want your youth to serve and to be salt and light, so others would notice Jesus Christ in their lives.

v      Listed below are the functions of the FBC youth ministry.

o        Sunday school - Jim presents a lesson to our youth in a large group setting.

o        Wednesday night youth group - The meeting begins at 7:00 and ends between 8:15- 8:30.  The meeting consists of a gathering time, worship with our youth praise band and small group time.  Small groups are age and gender divided; jr hi guys, jr hi girls, sr hi guys and sr hi girls. Junior high groups have an adult leader while high school groups are student led with an adult helper. The groups will be given a “RAP” sheet where they discuss a Bible passage and discover how to apply it to their life.

o        Sunday afternoon Deeper - Sunday afternoon is another opportunity for the youth to grow deeper in their walk with Christ by reading different Christian books.

o        Youth prayer meeting – Every Wednesday from 6-7 PM youth can gather in Jim’s office to spend time praying for the youth and the youth ministry of Fellowship.
